I got it prescribed to me for my neck pain but I have no clue to what this medication has in store for me. Is it the same as vicodin and percocet? Oh, and how do I make it to were I don’t get an upset stomache? I get that like everytime even when I eat. Should I just eat a whole buffet to not make my stomache hurt? Thanks for any help!

Ultram is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) just under vicoden in the pain control family. Not quite as strong. Just eat with it, you should be fine.
Its non-narcotic so while it will relieve pain with an acetomenophen content and NSAID properties, it will not be as effective
omg tramadol is not an nsaid. it is a synthetic opiate- that means it is works on the exact same receptors that vic. or per. does- it is just a little different.
although not technically a controlled drug, it *can be* very addictive to those with addiction issues. if you take it in a manner other than how it was prescribed, it is very similar to the other drugs you mentioned.
it is not notorious for stomach upset the way the others are- just take it with a little food- an exactly as it was prescribed.
if you take the maximum- 400mg day for more than a week, you will have withdrawal symptoms, so plan accordingly.
yes, it can be a good medication- i’ve been taking it off and on for about 5 years, but if you suspect this medicine could pose certain problems for you- go with the otc stuff, heat, massage…etc..
EDIT- thumbs down? i wonder who. lol

Tramadol is not an NSAID… I don’t know how anyone could think that as all you have to do is google “Tramadol” and see that it is a opioid. Tramadol is a close cousin to codeine in the way it effects you. I have taken tramadol for over a year and i love the mild euphoria as well as the pain relief it provides. It is the only synthetic opiate that uses the term “narcotic-like”. The rest are narcotics and thus controlled substances. Tramadol has been debated several times as to whether or not it should be classified as a controlled substance since it is so addictive. From a recreational standpoint “junkies” dislike it because of the fact that too much will cause a seizure where as Vicodin is tolerated better in large doses. Tramadol in multiple small doses taken threw the day does provide a unique buzz. The fact that it messes with your stomach may mean that you are in some way allergic since upset stomach is rare. try to take it with some Sprite and maybe some crackers. It is usually easier on your belly then NS AIDS but that may be something to discuss with your doctor or pharmacy. I hope you can continue to take it , with me every time I take it it’s like a wonderful “warm” experience that I don’t get from other opiates and I have taken every pain medicine on the list. This one is very unique indeed.
Real Answer- Tramadol is not a narcotic, but have narcotic-like properties. It is not an NSAID, but an opioid agonist. Percocet and Vicodin are opiod agonists also, but have a stronger affinity for certain opioid receptors. Therefore, Tramadol is indicated for mild to moderate pain, whereas Vicodin and Percocet rarely mild, moderate, severe pain. Upset stomach is not an allergic response (tired of people coming in the pharmacy and saying that about medications). Upset stomach in not a rare side effect of tramadol. Take it with a small meal or snack to avoid. If this does not help and side effect is intolerable then, get your doctor to change you to something else. I usually avoid tramadol unless there is some reason you can not take NSAIDS for the mild- moderate pain (ex history of GI bleed, ulcers, etc).
